Today we began the day with gym class, snacks, morning circle time and music class.
Next, we met our new animal friend of the week: Freddy Fish. We learned our phonics song and made a list of words we could think of that starts with F. Then JKs practiced their beginning sounds by looking at the picture on their sheets and circling the correct beginning sound. We are getting better each day! :)
After lunch and recess, we had French class.
After French we had our pre assessment on our second math unit. The pre assessment is used just as a guideline, so I can check what students already know about the unit. For the pre assessment JKs received math counters/manipulatives and were asked to sort in any way they know. Some chose to sort by colour, some by shape and others by size.
For the data management unit these are the learning goals: sort and classify objects according to specific characteristics, compare information using two categories, compare information using one-to-one correspondence, use simple grids to make graphs, use appropriate language (more, less, the same as) and use language of probability (could happen, could not happen).
I'm so excited for this unit as we can do a lot of hands on learning
. To finish off the day after second lunch and recess we reviewed our UOI and students shared something healthy or a good habit they have at home.
Here are the answers:
Have a great evening everyone!
