Happy Thursday!

We are loving the nice weather!!!
JKs started the day off with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we started our butterfly life cycle journal. Today we got the caterpillars and this is what we completed in our journal:

The whole process will take about 2 weeks to be completed. It will be a great opportunity for students to understand our lines of inquiry: "how living things grow and change" and "how to show responsibility for living things".
In the afternoon we completed an activity where JKs had cut and paste in the right category: cone, cube, cylinder and sphere.
To finish off the day we had reading buddies outside. :)

We had an awesome day!
In the morning JKs had gym class, outdoor snacks :), morning circle time and music class.

Right after music class we had about 15 minutes to do our daily five - listen to reading and read to someone.
After lunch and recess we worked on our UOI where we involved language and math. We looked into these 3 animal categories: mammals, reptiles and amphibians. We looked into the characteristics of these 3 groups and then sorted pictures the pictures.
Next, students completed a similar cut and paste activity sorting the pictures into the 3 groups.
After second lunch and recess, we worked on 3D shapes. JKs sung our 3D shape song and completed an activity identifying the square and the cube.
To finish off the day we watched a short video from Crawford the Cat.

I'm so glad everything is back to our routine! :)
Lots of inquiry in the class today!
Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
In language we completed an activity involving our unit of inquiry about animals. We talked about 3 animal groups today: birds, fish and insects. We looked into the different characteristics from each group, then we watched a short video from discovery channel about each group.
Next, we sorted pictures of the 3 animal groups into a big chart paper and right after JKs completed a similar activity on their own.

In the afternoon we had French class and learned about 3D shapes as part of our unit on geometry. JKs went for a walk in the school trying to find the 3D shapes. Then we came back in class and sorted items into sphere, cylinder, cube and cone.

 

 

 

To finish off the day we had centers!
