Today we had a different day. We began the day with morning circle time and a nice story time. We read 'No Clean Clothes' by Robert Munsch. After reading the story we did a comprehension activity, where I asked students specific questions about the sequence of the story. I just love reading aloud to my JKs. Reading aloud helps building an excellent foundation for literacy development.
Next we visited the book fair with our reading buddies. The grade 4s helped the JKs with their 'wish list'. Take a look in your child's agenda. In the afternoon we read another cute story: "The Gingerbread Man". Again we reflected about the story. We looked into what happened in the story scene by scene. Then we started talking about how sneaky and dishonest the fox was. I asked students what does it mean to be honest? One of the answers was: "It means we don't eat people!" I just love to hear their inputs! :) Next, JKs coloured and cut little gingerbread boys and girls and glued them on a paper trying to make a pattern.
Then we tried to draw the story on a big piece of cardboard box. Love this picture:
To finish off the day we played Christmas bingo.
Have a great evening everyone!
